From Factory to Your Door: The Journey of VR Equipment and Shipping Terms
From HEROVR Factory to Your Door: The Journey of VR Equipment and Shipping Terms
After making the exciting decision to purchase VR equipment from HEROVR, you might be wondering about the intricate process that unfolds to bring these high-tech devices to your doorstep. VR equipment isn’t the kind of thing that fits in a small package. It’s typically transported by sea or road, particularly in the Middle East. In this blog, we’re going to delve into the fascinating world of shipping.
Step 1: Notifying the Freight Forwarder
Before the journey even begins, the manufacturer goes through a series of rigorous steps, including production preparation, testing, inspection, and packaging. Only after all these steps are completed are the goods ready for transportation.
Two Situations May Arise
Situation 1:The customer chooses their own freight forwarder. In this case, the freight forwarder will arrive at the factory to pick up the goods on time. The manufacturer provides all necessary documents, such as invoices and packing lists, to the freight forwarder.
Situation 2: The manufacturer partners with a professional freight forwarder. They provide the customer with a price quote from the freight forwarder. Then, the manufacturer and the freight forwarder take joint responsibility for the transportation. The manufacturer notifies the chosen freight forwarder in advance to deliver the goods to the designated warehouse at the specified time.
Step 2: Booking and Transport
Once the goods are loaded, the freight forwarder books space and transports the goods according to the customer’s chosen transaction method. The most commonly used methods include:
EXW (EX-Works): The customer arranges their own freight forwarding.
FOB (Free on Board): The seller is responsible for loading the goods onto the buyer’s specified ship at the designated port of shipment. The buyer is notified in a timely manner.
CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight): The seller handles all documents, and the buyer can pick up the goods at the destination port using the bill of lading.
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): The seller helps the customer with customs declaration and arranges delivery to the destination. The buyer simply awaits the goods at the destination.
Step 3: VR Equipment Commencing Transportation
When the specified time comes, the freight forwarder begins transporting the VR equipment. Upon arrival at the departure port, two scenarios arise:
If the buyer handles customs themselves, they must find a local freight forwarder or customs declaration service.
If the customer has the seller handle customs declaration, the seller manages all customs matters. The process from customs declaration to release typically takes half a day to one day.
Step 4: Normal Transportation and Bill of Lading
VR devices are transported as usual, and the corresponding bill of lading is usually issued a few days after the ship departs. The bill of lading is critical, as it allows the buyer to pick up the goods. It’s issued by the freight forwarder or shipping company after export customs clearance procedures are complete and customs has released the goods.
